Fine Motor Skills

This week students have to read the number in each cupcake holder and use tweezers to pick up pompoms of the same colour the number is written in. This activity helps students to sort colours, recognise numbers and count sets using objects. It also develops students fine motor skills by strengthening their hands to enable them to grasp a pencil or pen correctly.

In the pictures below the students have to count the dots on the key ring and then match the key to the correct padlock to open it. This activity helps students to recognise numbers and dot patterns to 10 and also strengthens the muscles in their hands and fingers. A lot of the students have mentioned over the last week that this has been their favourite writing skills activity so far!
